Individual Coaching
Philosophy and Definition of Coaching
The International Coaching Federation adheres to a form of coaching that honors the client as the expert
in his/her personal and or professional life and believes that every client is creative, resourceful and
whole. Standing on this foundation, the coach's responsibility is to:
1. Discover, clarify and align with what the client wants to achieve For all individual and group coaching/mentoring programs Outright Exposure is committed to these standards
as identified by the International Coaching Federation. ICF Definition of Coaching
Professional Coaching is an ongoing partnership that helps clients produce fulfilling results in their personal
and professional lives. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance
and enhance their quality of life. Fees Fees for individual coaching vary depending on the format and number of sessions purchased. A typical coaching relationship begins with a minimal commitment to work together 5 sessions. Initially there is an intake session, usually an hour or so in length and in person when possible. This is followed by 4 thirty minute sessions by phone scheduled a week apart. Occasionally the decision to work in a face to face session on a regular basis is negotiated at the beginning of the contract for a minimal increase in fee. It is not unusual as well for some people to request more than one session a week but generally once a week works well. Coaching fees with Outright Exposure are generally as follows:
Process
The first step in coaching is to create an alliance with your coach and begin to identify what it is you want
to change in your life. These steps are done in your initial Intake Session. From this point the weekly
sessions are used to identify specific needs and wants as well as explore the limitations and blocks you are
experiencing as you pursue your goals. Generally coaching attempts to follow a forward looking
process paying
attention to the here and now rather than the past. Obviously there are many behavior patterns and habits that
can at times be difficult to break. It can be beneficial at these times to explore how some of these patterns
were developed and what meaning various events and behaviors have to you. Your coach will ask you at times to
explore more deeply some of these ideas in between your coaching sessions.
Timeframes
Coaching is a process you may pursue because of a specific incident or event in your life that you would like
help understanding or support in dealing with. It can also be a relationship you pursue off and on when you find
yourself stuck or unmotivated in your life. Lastly, coaching can develop into a longer term mentoring
relationship if you are working through significant life changing events such as a loss of a loved one, career
changes or specific personal growth issues.
Cancellations
Sessions are purchased in groups of 4 rather than one at a time. You and your coach will work out a specific
schedule that works best for both of you. Usually having a set time you meet each week allows you to develop
a rhythm in your work. Schedules are not always easy to keep therefore cancellations at times are inevitable.
When this happens a simple phone call in advance of the session will allow you and your coach the chance to
reschedule or bank the session for another time. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view and print the Flyer and Intake Form. This is a free download at the Adobe web site. |
